Our
Herd Sires...

It can be said that the strength or weakness of a farm’s herd is a direct result of the quality of its herd sires.  The foundation of Cattail Meadows' breeding program is now based upon 3 outstanding proven bucks, and a young new herd sire... all with very impressive lineages. Our goal is to carefully select each buck and doe breeding pair with the intent of bringing out the very best qualities in our spring kids.  Bloodlines, fleece types, color and conformation are all carefully considered before our breeding pairs are matched up. Each of our bucks is registered through either the Pygora Breeder’s Association (PBA) or the PCA Registry (PCA).  Pass your cursor over each picture for registration number and stats.

Cattail Meadows Farm Tristan (PBA)

Tristan is our homegrown treasure! As an adult, his well-conformed physique is nicely square & strongly muscled.  His stunning fiber is equally admirable…very dense with amazing soft brown ringlets that uniformly cover his entire body. Tristan is a gentle-spirited buck, & passes his sweet temperament on to his kids. The fiber of his offspring is also outstanding, ranging in color from brown, caramel, white, & dark gray.

Cattail Meadows Farm Alec (PBA)

Alec is the son of outstanding PBA buck Verdant Vistas Aiden, who won several championship awards for his outstanding, super-soft, very dense caramel-colored fleece. Born in 2008, Alec has matured into a handsome, well-conformed image of his pop…with his dad’s outstanding super-dense fleece & uniquely adorable goatee & forelock, as well as his "very bucky" disposition. This past year, Alec has moved into the position of Cattail Meadows' herd sire, and we’re very excited to see the kids he produces.

Verdant Vistas Ian (PBA)

Verdant Vistas Ian won Reserve Champion Junior Buck at the 2006 Bold & Beautiful Buck Show in Albany, Oregon. He has outstanding conformation and very dense fiber with even coverage and good separation.  To date, he has sired a very colorful array of offspring including browns, greys, blacks and dark caramels. With all that and a sweet, friendly disposition, he is a very strong asset to our herd.

Bryn Hollow Farm’s Flannery (PCA)

Flannery is unique to Cattail Meadows in that he is a registered PCA buck. As the son of twice Grand Champion PBA buck Goose Creek Farm Jackson, his lineage is outstanding. He has superior conformation & is evenly covered with extremely dense & lustrous ringlets of red-colored fiber! His mild, friendly disposition together with his stunning good looks combine to make him an outstanding mate for our does. We look forward to branching out into the world of PCA goats! 2010 Update: Flannery's PCA son, Cattail Meadows Farm Big Boy Dillon, won Champion Wether Kid in the "Other Fiber Goats" Show at the Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival!
