Our Wethers...

Pygora wethers make outstanding pets! They are males that have been castrated, and they produce wonderful fiber without the "bucky" odor associated with intact males. Each of our Pygora wethers is registered through the Pygora Breeder’s Association (PBA).  Pass your cursor over each picture for registration number and stats.  All complete pedigrees can be viewed on the PBA website in the online “herdbook.”

Verdant Vistas Eli

Our handsome wether, Eli, has the most exquisite, silvery, light gray type-C fleece you have ever seen! It is exceptionally dense, and fleece show judges have consistently commented on his high yeild. He placed 2nd in his fiber division at the 2005 Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival in Canby, Oregon, and he, along with VVFiona, was one of the favorite attractions at the 2006 Fuzzy Bunz Fiberfest in Colville, Washington.  His sweet temperament and outgoing personality definitely make him “Mr. Congeniality” at Cattail Meadows!

Verdant Vistas Clancy

Clancy is one of twin brothers that comes to us from Verdant Vistas Pygoras in Salem, Oregon.  He is medium carmel colored with medium carmel-colored type-B fleece.  He has a very sweet, somewhat shy disposition, and both he and his twin were the first ones to make “best friends” with Romeo, our guard llama, when he first arrived on our farm in November 2006.  His super-soft fiber was the PBA Champion Wether Fleece at the 2007 Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival in Canby, Oregon!

Verdant Vistas Cullen

Cullen is Clancy's very outgoing twin brother. He is light carmel-colored, with very soft light carmel-colored type-B fleece.  His fiber is very fine with a good deal of luster and crimp to it. At the 2007 Bold & Beautiful Pygora Buck and Fiber show in Albany, Oregon, it was Cullen's outstanding fiber that placed Reserve Grand Champion fleece of show! Cullen also won PBA Reserve Champion Wether Fleece at the 2007 Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival in Canby, Oregon.

Verdant Vistas Wyatt

Wyatt is another of our outstanding wethers from Verdant Vistas. He is exceptional in every way (both looks AND personality!) and he also happens to be another one of our Reserve Grand Champions. With his super-soft light brown-carmel colored type-B fleece, he captured the attention of both judges at the 2006 Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival in Canby, Oregon.  His fiber was awarded first place in the wether division, then went on to win Champion Wether fleece and Reserve Grand Champion fleece of show in both the sanctioned PBA and OFFF fiber shows. We are very proud of him!

Sam

Sam is Lilah’s somewhat devilish unregistered pygmy twin brother.  He and Lilah were our first caprines, and we’ve been in love with them ever since. Like Lilah, Sam has horns…however, unlike his twin sis, he knows how to use them, and really keeps us ALL on our toes.  So far he’s learned how to unlatch the gate, turn on the outdoor water faucet, and switch on the barn lights…all while kicking up his heels in delight!  His barn-cohabitants aren’t too thrilled with the horns, either…as he’s always first in the pecking order at mealtime!
