Welcome to Cattail Meadows Farm...Home of outstanding PBA registered Pygora fiber goats! Cattail Meadows is a Pygora fiber goat farm located on 15 acres of woods, pasture, and wetland…just 25 miles north of Spokane, Washington near the small town of Deer Park. Our farm is home to a happy herd of PBA registered Pygora goats, a sibling pair of Pygmy goats, a small flock of Muscovy ducks, some very special dogs and cats, and a very dignified guard llama who helps watch over everyone. Each of our goats enjoys beautiful, lush pastures for grazing, cozy barns for shelter, and daily personal human attention and interaction. The Pygora goat is an extraordinary breed of fiber goat that was originally “created” in Oregon in the mid-1970’s by an inventive woman named Katherine Jorgensen. She wanted an outstanding animal that would produce an exquisitely fine fiber for hand spinning. She bred a Pygmy goat, with soft, downy fiber, to an Angora goat with long, lustrous, silky fleece, and the Pygora was born! The Pygora goat was an excellent choice for our “small farm vision” because we wanted to raise an animal that was smaller in stature, was not raised for human consumption, and did not require high daily maintenance such as milking. We think Pygoras are practically perfect in that they have outstanding temperaments…docile, yet inquisitive and playful. They produce an outstanding usable product, and help keep the pasture growth under control. Welcome to our Pygora website. We hope you enjoy your visit and welcome your questions or comments! |

In Memory of Pat Copa of Verdant Vistas Pygoras... My relationship with Pat Copa began back in 2004, when I first inquired about the possibility of purchasing some of her exquisite Pygora goats. From that time on, she not only became my Pygora mentor, but also quickly became a loved & cherished friend, whose gentle, kind and modest wisdom and advice I often sought and deeply valued...and whose friendship I will forever miss. My husband Mike and I will always remember the good times we shared with both Pat and her husband George...at OFFF, the B&B Buck Show, on occasional visits to their farm, and on their visits to ours. It's been an honor and a privilege to have known and learned from Pat...she was a "one in a million" friend who always had time to listen, and whose fun sense of humor and smile I will never forget! Her passing is such a loss to both her family and her many friends. My sympathies, thoughts, and prayers are with George and her entire family.
